Personal Portfolio Video & Narrative
My name is Sida Jiao. Thanks to the sponsorship of China Scholarship Council, I had the opportunity of studying in Bar-Ilan university in Israel for my Bachelor’s degree, where I majored in Hebrew and Israeli studies. However, after 3 years of study in Israel, I found out that I was not adaptive in this academic field, so I tried various kinds of internship jobs in Beijing TV Station, The Fair (one of the most famous WeChat Blog accounts in China) and Blue Focus, and found out that I was interested in the communication career.
I am currently a graduate student who study the major of communication, culture and technology in Georgetown University in the U.S. The experiences of studying in China, Israel and U.S. allowed me to understand the world through different lenses. I would describe myself as a person with great cultural tolerance. I cherish the 3000 years of history in China; I appreciate the coexistence of extreme religion and LGBTQ group in Israel; and I respect for the free expression legacy in the United States. I think my life is brilliant and meaningful.
The CCT program gives me much more opportunities to explore the direction of my future career. I have tried various kinds of courses including journalism and advertising. In this semester, I urged myself to do some researches about Chinese international student, and found out that I was much better than I thought in doing research. In the coming semester, I would love to try some courses related to technology and data, which is an area that I have never dared to step in before.
I hope to go back to China after my graduation. I would devoted myself to work in the advertising or public relations companies such as Ogilvy and Blue Focus, where I believe I can find like-minded colleagues.
